Geeks All Around Us is a new series here on GTYD that will focus on awesome-rockstar-and-everyday-like-you-and-I-geektastic-peeps. 

I sometimes forget that geek culture doesn’t affect everyone in the world (so silly), which means some of my friends may not have heard of the awesome Felicia Day yet (what?? Insane-in-the membrane, people!).  Anyway, here’s a brief Felicia Day background awesomeness for you:

1. Buffy the Vampire Slayer
Felicia played Vi, one of the “potentials” from the last season of Buffy. Shy but eventually packed a powerful punch.

2. Dr. Horrible Sing Along Blog
Felicia was the lead in Joss Whedon’s musical web series and fanboys and girls fell deeply in lurve.

3. The Guild
After the success of Dr Horrible, Felicia went on to create The Guild, a web series that helped catapult the bubbling field of entertainment on the web to new heights.

4. Geek & Sundry
A new company launched earlier this year. Here’s a description from their website:

Premium YouTube channel Geek & Sundry features the best of indie geek culture and the internet’s foremost geek voices. Founded by the producers of the hit web series “The Guild”, Geek & Sundry offers a diverse lineup of shows that create a hub for fans of comedy, gaming, comics, music, and literature around the world.

 

One of my favorite shows on the channel besides Felicia’s weekly, “Flog”(her video blog), is the show Written By a Kid where the stories of young creative minds are brought to life with live action and animation.
